Abstract Based on the affordance of technologies and the literature of Internet interactive strategies, this study analyzes how usage of Internet interactive media (including inter-organizational systems and social media) impacts information sharing between enterprises and cooperation performance, and further discusses how IT capability (including IT infrastructure capability and IT usage capability) moderates the relationship between the use of interactive media and information sharing. Using survey data of 509 manufacturing firms operating in China, we find that both types of Internet interactive media have positive influences on information sharing, and that information sharing has a positive impact on cooperation performance. At the same time, the result reveals that IT infrastructure capability would strengthen the positive effect of inter-organizational systems on information sharing, while IT usage capability would strengthen the positive effect of social media on information sharing.
