Abstract This research collected data from Good Doctor Online, a Chinese leading online healthcare community, and the research sample is the review data of doctors from Hubei and Jiangxi province in two years. This research conducted coarsened exact matching to match the individuals and developed an empirical model of how the open of doctor personal website affected review volume. Fixed effect model was then applied to estimate the parameters of the model and calculate the average treatment effect on the treated group, in order to explore the influence of doctor personal website opening on the volume of patients’ generated reviews. The results reveal that doctor personal website opening can increase the number of patients’ reviews, and the conclusion is applicable to doctors in different regions and those with different titles.
