Abstract The researches related to the effectiveness and influential mechanisms of ambidextrous leadership are limited. This research constructed the process model of ambidextrous leadership-team ambidextrous behavior-team innovation performance to examine the effect between ambidextrous leadership and team innovation, and examined the moderating role of teams’ traditionalism and environmental dynamism. The results show that: (1) Ambidextrous leadership positively influences on team innovation performance; (2) Team ambidextrous behavior plays a partial mediating role between ambidextrous leadership behavior and team innovation performance; (3) Traditionality positively moderates the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and team innovation performance; (4) Environmental dynamism positively moderates the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and team innovation performance.
