Abstract This paper summarizes the definitions and mainstream models on culture study, and points out the commonness and limitations. Literature review on the leadership research from a
cultural perspective is conducted. The main findings are that: the contents of research focus on leadership prototype, leadership style, specific leadership behavior and ingredients of
leadership; Empirical quantitative method is mainly used; Localization correction to the Western theory is a major research strategy. Then the issues and questions to be addressed in the
future is put forward, which include that: clarification of the concept boundary,the improvement and development of the model, exploration of the mechanism, the introduction of time
dimension and the construction of local leadership theory.
