Abstract From forming mechanism of IUR collaborative innovation and technology transfer perspective, based on provincial balanced panel data of Chinese universities and enterprises
from 2007~2011, the impacts of market factors and spatial characteristics on university knowledge innovation & spillovers are studied by Spatial Panel Data Model analysis and Spatial
Correlation estimate. The empirical analysis results reveal that university’s R&D inputs and market factors have played positive roles in promoting towards outputs of university knowledge
innovation. Compared with pure knowledge production, business density of R&D inputs, patent transfer density and technology market strength have greater roles in promoting patent
application. The universities of developed regions and medium regions of teaching and research level, respectively, are with a higher efficiency in the production of patent applications and
pure knowledge. Eastern region’s universities have a higher efficiency in the outputs of knowledge & innovation. Innovation outputs of university, region and enterprises have spatial
correlation and dependence, and the local indicators of spatial association are the most obvious in Yangtze River Delta region. Finally, some policy measures about marketoriented
tripartite collaboration would be suggested according to the empirical results.
