| Agentive or Narrative: Examining the Evolving Changes of Power Exercised by Chinese Government through the People’s Daily Headlines |

Abstract China has taken great changes since 30 years of reform and opening up. Facing with an increasingly complex social environment, whether Chinese government’s management methods are in accordance to the changes? In order to understand the changes of power exercised by Chinese government during 30 years of reform and opening up, an extensive research on word frequency and content from 1460 headlines of People’s Daily across 1979 to 2009 was conducted from a particular perspective. The results lead to the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions on government’s exercise of power in the future.
