Chinese Industries’ Ecological Total Factor Energy Efficiency

Abstract  This paper applies the improved undesirableSBM model to measure ecological total factor energy efficiency of Chinese 39 industries and classifies the industries from perspectives of energy efficiency and environmental pollution. Finally, this it uses Tobit model to analyze its affecting factors. Findings show that Chinese industries’ ecological total factor energy efficiency is low, 25%-30% of the energy could be saved and ecological total factor energy efficiency present as rolling rise and it increased from 0.729 4 to 0.763 4 from 2005 to 2009; difference between the industries’ ecological total factor energy efficiency is large; high efficiency industries need great initial investment scale and high technical barrier, while low efficiency industries are mainly the traditional processing industry and laborintensive industry; and significantly influential factors of ecological total factor energy efficiency in high energy efficiency industries are controlling type and capital deepening while those of low efficiency industries are enterprise scale and industry competition intensity. 
