Abstract Disruptive Innovation Theory has created a significant impact on management practices and aroused plenty of rich debate within academia, so it needs deep and integrated exploration. This research clarifies the conception of disruptive technology and disruptive innovation, analyses the essence and properties of disruptive innovation, summarizes two fundamental types of disruptive innovation and three kinds of market encroachment mode, and researches on the momentum of disruptive innovation. We put forward the strategies from internal perspective and external perspective to make the potential disruptive innovation practical.
