Abstract The paper focuses on the determinants of strategic human resource management in Chinese firms. It chooses 87 firms that have adopted strategic human resource management, analyzes the profiles of human resource management in these firms with content analysis and sums up factors and builds determinants of strategic human resource management application model. The results indicate that the determinants of strategic human resource management application are vale employee, organizational goal and environmental uncertainty. These factors are no significant differences in stateowned enterprises, private enterprises, foreign enterprises and joint ventures in different industries except environmental uncertainty.
