Abstract This paper first analyzes the definition, elements and formation process of CI, and then develops a conceptual framework by reviewing the recent researches on its characteristics, factors and application. The framework not only reviews the main factors related to CI through three dimensions: contribution of individual intelligence, formation process and system, but also integrates the main area of CI application.
