Abstract The advancing of globalization and knowledge economy brings more and more turbulence and complexity into the environment which rigorously challenges the organizational modalities and human resource management patterns, and meanwhile recently the mainstreams of the western management theories are found more and more unfitness in Chinese context. It has become an imperative for the Chinese management researchers to reflect on the theoretical status quo and progress actively on Chinese style management in order to response the calls from both practices and academics fields. One of efforts was The First Chinese Human Resource Management Forum (2012) which took place on May 26-27 2012 in Business School of Nankai University. This 1st forum was an academic conference on organizational innovation and change in human resource management. The attendants discussed in depth on the a series of subjects: the challenges for Chinese human resource management, the direction of the development of the Human Resource Management discipline, the methodology for human resource management research, strategic HRM, organizational behavior and leadership, and organizational learning and change. This paper briefly reviews and comments on the main academic arguments, perspectives and relevant issues presented on the conference.
