Effect of Social Capital on Knowledge Sharing in Software Outsourcing

Abstract  On the basis of available literatures, some hypotheses and a model of the relationship among structural capital, cognitive capital, relational capital and the performance of knowledge sharing is proposed. The questionnaire is designed and data is collected when we interview with the software outsourcing enterprises in Xi’an Software Park. All hypotheses are validated by structural equation model, the empirical analysis shows that: i) structural capital is not correlated with the performance of knowledge sharing between the clients and the vendors in software outsourcing positively; ii) cognitive capital is correlated with the performance of knowledge sharing, but it is not significantly; iii) relational capital is correlated with the performance of knowledge sharing, which is not significantly either; iv) social capital is correlated with the performance of knowledge sharing significantly.
