Abstract As China’s economy is growing rapidly, the importance of indigenous management research is also on the rise; however, indigenous management research in China is insufficient. How to explore and develop management theories based on Chinese firms’ management practices is a challenging problem faced by domestic and overseas Chinese scholars. Based on the analysis of the status of theory research in China, the authors propose three major paths for indigenous management research in order to achieve the goal of Chinese modern management.
