Abstract Based on self-determination theory, this study explores the influence mechanism that links perceived leadership empowerment behavior to employee creativity by data collected from 58 supervisors and 396 subordinates. The research results show that perceived leadership empowerment behavior positively affects employee creativity through creative process engagement; Creativity-based external rewards not only positively moderate the direct effect of creative process engagement on employee creativity, but also positively moderate the mediating effect of perceived leadership empowerment behavior on employee creativity through creative process engagement.
