Abstract Based on the high-level theory and strategic cognitive theory, this study explores the impact of entrepreneurs’ conscientiousness and agreeableness on entrepreneurial business model innovation,as well as the mediating role of strategic schema change and the moderating role of industry competition pressure. The empirical results show that the conscientiousness and agreeableness of entrepreneurs both promote the business model innovation of entrepreneurial enterprises, with the conscientiousness promoting business model innovation more significantly. In addition, the strategic schema change partially mediates between the two personality traits and business model innovation. Furthermore, industry competition pressure negatively moderates the impact of entrepreneurs’ conscientiousness and agreeableness on strategic schema change.
