Abstract Based on the complex adaptive systems theory, this study follows the logic of “changing context-adaptive behavior-complex outcome” and adopts the exploratory single case study method. The result finds that the value creation of platform enterprise is essentially driven by different situational factors, through the coordinated unification of a series of adaptive behavior, including the platform of the resource base, network advantage, and empowerment mechanism. Thus, it realizes the complexity of constant transition using inter-adaptability. And it goes through product value creation and brand value creation to ecological value creation, which is a dynamic process of upward spiral evolution. Furthermore, the theoretical model of the mechanism and evolution of value creation of the platform enterprises has been constructed.
