Abstract Based on the data of China’s A-share manufacturing enterprises from 2012 to 2019, from the two dimensions of static customer concentration and dynamic customer volatility, combined with regional sustainable development, this study makes an in-depth research on the impact of customer relationship on enterprise technological innovation and its mechanism. It is found that both customer concentration and customer volatility weaken corporate technological innovation, and regional sustainable development level can significantly alleviate the negative impact of customer concentration on corporate technological innovation. The mechanism analysis shows that the increase in financing constraints caused by customer concentration and the decrease in inventory turnover efficiency caused by customer volatility have inhibited enterprise technological innovation.
