Abstract From the perspectives of “adhering to, inheriting and carrying forward” of Chinese culture, this study sorts out and reviews Chinese leadership research along the three research paths of “ following narration, carrying-on narration, combining narration”. Among them, the research of “following narration” category explores the leadership thoughts contained in various traditional Chinese philosophies and their relationship with modern leadership theory and practice. The research of “carrying-on narration” category summarizes the leadership behaviors in the contemporary Chinese context from two paths of “Chinese-Western comparison” and “Chinese-Western integration”. The research of “combining narration” category explores the manifestation of yin-yang thinking, dialectical thinking, and zhong-yong thinking in leadership behavior. Those above classification presents three characteristics of Chinese leadership researchwhich is not only adhering to the “normative” of traditional culture, and exploring the inheritance of traditional culture in contemporary context, but also systematically analyzing its evolution in combination with ancient and modern philosophy. Finally, this study looks forward to future research from three perspectives: truth-seeking, pragmatism and supreme-good.
