Abstract Under Chinese culture background, Qinlao&Jiejianas a Chinese traditional virtue exists in the daily organization of Chinese enterprises. What is the internal organizational principle that Qinlao&Jiejian promotes the development of traditional Chinese enterprises? This study finds from the retrospective analysis of the rise and fall of the Qiao merchants of Shanxi that: first of all, during the “prosperous years” and “lean years” of Chinese traditional enterprises,Qinlao&Jiejian conform to Guanxi. Secondly, in the daily organizational behavior, Qinlao that pays attention to Guanxi improves organizational and learning skills, while Jiejian that pays attention to Guanxi improves status and organizational capabilities. Finally, Qinlao&Jiejian are very complementary to each other in the daily organizational behavior, and they both play economic roles in raising income and reducing expenditure, and organizational roles in the enhancement of resource capacity. The findings suggest that the daily organizational behavior dominated by Qinlao&Jiejian can effectively promote the sustainable development of enterprises. The solution of this problem not only provides a Chinese solution for modern enterprise management, but also plays an important role in constructing the theory of enterprise management with Chinese characteristics.
