Abstract We conducted a questionnaire survey among 117 international enterprises in Jiangsu Province, and use the fuzzy-set qualitative analysis method to analysis the mixed effect of internationalization degree, entrepreneurship orientation and strategic flexibility on firm performance. Compare the 3 high performance configuration and 3 low performance configuration, we find that, firstly, firms that gain good performance are often with both higher degree of internationalization and strategic flexibility. Secondly, when the degree of internationalization of firms is high, firms should enhance risk-taking while exerting the role of strategic flexibility properly in the process of internationalization. Thirdly, when the degree of internationalization is low, enterprises should give full play to the role of innovation and proactiveness, and reduce risk-taking at the same time.
