Abstract With the panel data of 2006~2014 from 31 provinces, this study examines the effects of technological and geographical distance on University-Enterprise synergetic innovation by extending the technological distance to the horizontal similarity and the vertical depth of technology, replacing geographical distance with rail time, and by improving the Jaffe-Griliches knowledge production function model. Results show that the horizontal and vertical technological distance have a significant enhancement to University-Enterprise synergetic innovation; the horizontal similarity is one of the most important factors; the closer geographical distance by rail time, the more beneficial to University-Enterprise synergetic innovation.
