Abstract Based on product-service separating process, this research conducted cross-case studies to explore how manufacturers build their service innovation capability as well as the path to realize it in different organizational contexts from a dynamic perspective. The results showed that manufacturing enterprises build their service innovation capacity through dynamic matching between environmental factors and resource capacity in different combinations of elements. Specially, different matching pattern may result in a sequence effect and dynamic evolution of service innovation capability.
