Situational Experiments on the Interaction Effect from Time Pressure and Creative Personality for Creative Performance |

Abstract Using selfdetermination theory, this study examines the impact from time pressure and the interactive effect from time pressure and creative personality on employees' creativity. Results show that the samples with moderate creative personality under the informational time pressure exhibit higher creative performance and satisfaction of psychological needs than the ones under the controlling time pressure. And the authors also found that the satisfaction of psychological needs mediates the impact of time pressure nature and creative performance. Creative personality and time pressure interact with each other on work creativity. Individuals with high creative personality exhibited higher creativity than the others under high time pressure. The high creative personality people have lower perception of time pressure than the low ones. These findings are significant for the management of time pressure and fostering creative performance.
