Abstract This paper argues that the specialization and diversity of industry structure influence the entrepreneurship activity. Based on the statistics of the year from 1998 to 2008 of five hightech industries covering thirtyone provinces and autonomous region in China, the empirical study basically shows that both the specialization and the diversity of industry structure are conducive to improving the entrepreneurship. As for the shortterm entrepreneurship effect, the specialization of industry structure is more conducive to generating entrepreneurship, while the impact of diversity of industry structure on the entrepreneurship is relatively limited. The research results help the industries in different regions to identify their characteristics of structures and strategic directions of entrepreneurship and regions with big difference of industrial structure to promote acetate entrepreneurship and upgrade the industry structure.
