Starting from a few of questions on empirical research(ER), this paper argues that ER has some fundamental troubles by comments on the four wellknown books of research methodology. Further, this paper discusses the limitation of ER in management research. The author hopes that the scholars in Chinese management community realize the crucial misleading of ER as the discourse hegemony.
