Abstract Past studies have focused on the direct influence of TMT demography on organizational performance and innovation. Little research has been done to examine the mechanism influencing the processes in between, though it is important to organizations for their strategic changes to deal with the complex business environments. In this study, we examine the effects of TMT diversity on network ties and collaborative decision making of TMT, and their subsequent impacts on organizational innovation. Our study on the TMT process enriches the research about how the TMT works and affects the organizational outcomes.
