Abstract Methodorientation and ignoring realistic application reduces equivocality between management researcher and practitioner. This communication obstacle has great restriction to management research improvement and application. This article proposes four steps of equivocalitybuilding frame which include discrepancy identifying, enactment, selection and retention from sensemaking perspective. We further develop a set of evaluation indicators for progressively reducing asymmetry and increasing equivocality between management study and application.
