This paper focuses in particular on the interpretation in the literatures of technological innovation since 2000 and addresses two critical research questions. First, what are the reasons to the ambiguity of organization search concept? Second, how can we reconcile these differences and reduces the ambiguity? To answer these questions, we firstly analysis the root cause of these different viewpoints are the inconsistency boundaries to define search scope and the inconsistency about how to balance search scope and search depth. In response to the two questions above,we first develop a new concept of multidimensional boundaryspanning search based on knowledge types and knowledge distance. Then we set up an integrated framework of evolutionary search and show the paths to balance the scope and depth. So this paper coordinates and integrates the inconsistent interpretations in current research and has great importance for both theory and practice.
