From the viewpoint of the global manufacturing networks, this paper studies the selection of competitive priority of manufacturing companies with different strategic roles. Based on reviews of strategic role and competitive priority theory, this paper proposes that the competitive priority selections made by the manufacturing companies with different strategic roles are different. Using empirical data from International Manufacturing Strategy Survey 2009, the proposition is analyzed. The results show that quality, service, innovation, environmental protection and social responsibility have different importance significantly in winning orders of manufacturing companies. Based on the research above, the map of competitive priority selection is formulated based on strategic roles and which may offer some advices to manufacturing companies for competitive priority selection.
