“Face Chinese management practice directly” has become Chinese management scholars’ common view. The paper analyzes the meaning and characteristics of “face Chinese management practice directly”. It also summarizes three paths to face Chinese management practice: understanding practice through reading the second-hand materials, observing practice through staying in enterprises, and changing practice through participating in practices. In order to facilitate scholars to do research grounded on management practice, it argues that we should break the mobile barrier between academics and practices, reform the academic appraisal system that emphasizes short-term quantity of academic results, establish incentive system that motivate scholars to participate in management practices, and build platforms that foster communication between scholars and practitioners.
