Abstract:Based on existing surveys and empirical researches, this study uses the principles and procedures of psychometrics to compile and develop a scale of senior leaders’political capability. It includes 15 questions in 5 dimensions and has good reliability and validity after testing. Then, a questionnaire survey of 319 senior leaders from 97 companies was conducted to test the influence mechanism of corporate leaders’ political capability on organizational performance. The results show that the political ability of senior corporate leaders can positively promote the network centrality and organizational legitimacy of the enterprise, and predict the short-term performance and long-term performance of enterprises through the individual intermediary role of organizational legitimacy or the chain intermediary role of “network centrality-organizational legitimacy”.
