Abstract:Based on trait activation theory and achievement motivation theory, this study investigates the role of employees’voice behavior in the transfer of goal orientation and job performance, and tests the moderated mediation effect of team involvement climate as well. Using paired survey questionnaires from 633 subordinates and 120 supervisors, the empirical results indicate that mastery goal orientation and performance-approach goal orientation have significant positive impacts on job performance, while performance-avoidance goal orientation has significant negative impact on job performance. Moreover, voice behavior mediates the relationship between goal orientation and employees’job performance, and only the mediation effect of voice behavior between performance-approach goal orientation and job performance is stronger under the condition of high team involvement climate.
