Abstract:As a product of integrating the view of strategic flexibility into strategic SHRM, Human Resource Flexibility (HRF) is of great value in theory and practice. Based on the retrospection of HRF’s theoretical evolution and extant operationalization & measurement literature, we revealed that HRF was in a state of under-conceptualization: unestablished definition, ambiguous dimensions, and unspecified measurement model. Based on in-depth analysis of its evolution and the most related views or theories, we furthered its intension and reshaped its definition with the emphasis on strategic flexibility orientation and proativeness, reconstructed its dimensions and prospected for its scale initial items, specified and tentatively discussed its formative measurement model.
