Abstract:Based on analyzing the effects of the structure of technological interdependence on integrated innovation competitive advantage of firms, the paper reveals that in the structure of technological interdependence of an integrated innovation ecosystem, component technologies and complement technologies are two different types of technologies outside of an integrated innovation firm, which have significant asymmetric effects on the firm’s integrated technological innovation. Greater difficulties in component technology development will enhance the competitive advantages of integrated innovation leaders, while greater difficulties in complement technology development will erode their competitive advantages. With the decrease of uncertainties in the component technologies and integrated technologies, the higher proportion of components the integrated innovation firms develop independently, the more competitive advantages these firms will capture.
