Abstract：This paper reviews the controversy over the scientific status of management by the content analysis method and the course comparative research, analyzes the relationship between the historical stage and scientific evolution. It argues that the controversy over the scientific status of management presents historical stage, and the historical stage is identical with scientific evolution and lags behind the latter. The reform of science is one of the key factors to promote the controversy over the scientific status of management. Practical science, reform of knowledge production is the western academics’ theoretical bases to study the controversy over the scientific status of management. To realize the scientific status of management, reform management science, Chinese management academics should learn much more.
