Abstract:This study argues that in order to bridge the researchpractice gap in management, we should take advantage of gradient division of knowledge of basic research, applied research, consulting research and management practice, and build up a discipline called "manageriology" to pursue the truth, which differs from the "management" with ambiguous referent in discipline. The differentiation of manageriology and management and the reconstruction of discipline system could relieve the chaos in the discipline of management and facilitate interaction between management theories and practices. This paper tries to explore whether it’s possible to build up a discipline called "manageriology" as the theoretical foundation of the discipline of management.
