Development, Application of Sensitive Indicators of Nursing Quality in Management of Patients with Esophageal Varices Ligation under Endoscopy

Abstract: Objective To explore the application effect of nursing quality sensitive indicators in management of endoscopic esophageal varices ligation (hereinafter referred to as ligation) patients. Methods After literature review, 8 sensitive indicators of nursing quality for patients with ligation, including 5 process indicators and 3 result indicators which involved corresponding assessment method were developed through evidence-based method, routine nursing and guidelines for ligation. Changes of nursing quality indicators before (in the 2016)and after(in the 2017) the application of these 8 sensitive indicators were compared. Results There was improvement regarding to 5 process indicators after the application.The mastery rate of health education knowledge and the satisfaction rate of patients were significantly higher than those before but the incidence of complications after the implementation of the indicators was significantly lower and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion After the implementation of the sensitive indicators of specialist nursing quality, the quality of specialist nursing of patients with ligation is improved. With lower incidence of complications but higher satisfaction rate of patients and the mastery rate of health education knowledge, sensitive indicators of nursing quality embody the connotation of specialist nursing and scientific management.
