Development and Application of Mobile-based Health Education Platform for Children after Hypospadias Repair

Abstract: Objective To develop a mobile-based health education platform for children after hypospadias repair and explore its application effect. Methods A mobile-based health education platform that consisted of 5 sections including patients, health education courses, appointment, consultation and assessment was developed and 80 children and their families obtained extended nursing from the platform after the discharge. Results Extending nursing was performed for 6 months by using the platform and 2 of the patients lost to follow-up. Of the left 78 children, 4 cases of urinary fistula within 6 months after the discharge had the surgery and recovered and another 4 cases of urethral stricture were carried out urethra dilatation. Conclusion The developed mobile-based health education platform is effective for extended nursing for the improvement of nursing knowledge of families and reducing the incidence of complications such as urinary fistula and urethral stricture.
